School Group Visits

Reservations

All groups requesting a group visit must make a reservation prior to visiting Lane Motor Museum. Reservation requests can be made online and should be made no less than 2 weeks prior to the desired tour date to ensure availability. Group coordinators will receive a confirmation e-mail prior to the scheduled visit.

Location

702 Murfreesboro Pike Nashville TN. 37210. The museum is located three miles southwest from downtown Nashville on Murfreesboro Pike and has lots of free parking.

Chaperones

If children under the age of 16 are a part of your group, please keep in mind that we require at least one adult chaperone for every 10 children in a group. Additionally, children must remain with the Chaperone at all times, and must not be allowed to run through the museum or touch collection items.

Group Size

The maximum size of a group participating in a guided activity is 40 students. Larger groups may be accommodated on a case by case basis. Please call or email for details.

Tour Length

Most guided activities are approximately 1 hour. Some programs may add additional time. After a guided activity, groups are welcome to continue the museum visit with a self-guided tour as long as students remain with their chaperones.

Parking

The museum has approximately 96 lined parking spaces available as follows: 17 spots, including 2 disabled, are in the front of the building split between the side and front parking areas; the remaining 79 are located behind the building. Additional parking may also be available in the parking garage.
All buses are required to park in the lot behind the museum, (buses may drop off and pick up students in the front of the building).
All parking at the museum is free.

Accessibility

Lane Motor Museum is wheelchair-friendly and the exhibit area is completely accessible to visitors. Visitors may use mobility devices, including manual and electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and manually-powered mobility aids (such as walkers, canes, and crutches) in all areas open to public use.
Museum policy allows a guide dog or service animal to accompany a visitor with a disability at all times, except in the rare occasion where there is a direct threat to others.

Restrooms

The Museum offers public restrooms equipped with accessible stalls and changing tables. Additionally, the museum has two family restrooms.

Food & Drink

No Food or drinks are permitted in the exhibit area.
Your group is welcome to bring packed lunches to the museum and may eat in our snack area (seats 10) or outside; neither area may be reserved. There are two picnic tables and a lawn area available in front of the building. Groups eating lunch on the grounds are responsible for gathering and disposing of all of their trash.
It may be possible to reserve our meeting room for your lunch, rental fees may apply, email or call for inquiries.

• Have a group leader who serves as the museum contact

Programs

Self-Guided Tours

All exhibits on display are varied and a self-guided. This kind of visit gives your group the opportunity to spend more individual time with the items that interest you the most.

Guided Activities

Encourage critical thinking skills with a guided activity created to help you learn about our collection, exhibits, and history of the museum. Activities are structured and grade-level appropriate.

Demonstrations

As a working collection, many of our vehicles have the power to transport you in time. Our Helicron will propel your class to the noisy streets of 1930s Paris while our 1980 Tatra Ambulance sparks conversation about emergency vehicles of the past and present.

Customizable Tour

We are more than happy to work with you to create individualized lessons that meet your learning objectives as well as Tennessee education standards. As our Flying Fleas know, the sky’s the limit!

Learning Lane on the Move

We understand a visit to the museum isn’t always possible. Luckily for you, our collection is on wheels; we can drive to you!
