Fiat Abarth 750 Spider by Allemano – 1958

The 1958 Fiat Abarth 750 Spider by Allemano is a rare Italian sports car built on a Fiat 600 Chassis and a distinctive roadster body by coachbuilder Allemano. It was designed for competitive racing but also delivers a stylish, agile driving experience for enthusiasts, highlighting Abarth’s tradition of improving small Fiat cars. The car uses a modified Fiat 600 engine bored and stroked to 750cc, special camshaft, modified cylinder head, larger carburetor, and an Abarth exhaust system. These modifications significantly increased power, boosting it from a modest 23 hp to approximately 44 hp.

While Abarth is widely recognized for its Zagato-bodied coupes, the 750 Spider was a more exclusive roadster built by coachbuilder Alleman, their first collaboration with Abarth. This version features a sleek, sporty design made with aluminum panels. The chassis was modified for improved handling, benefiting from the Abarth engine’s increased performance. The suspension was also lowered and stiffened compared to the stock Fiat, enhancing agility.

Carrozzeria Allemano, owned by Serafino Allemano, was an automobile coachbuilder in Turin, Italy, from 1928 until 1965. Allemano produced bespoke vehicles for the majority of Italian car companies, including Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati. Allemano’s work wasn’t limited to Italian brands; Carrozzeria also created bodies for a handful of British and French cars.
