FIAT 2000 Spyder – 1979
The Fiat 124 Spider was originally unveiled at the 1966 Turin Auto Show, starting a nearly two decade long production run. While Fiat provided the technical designs, the body was designed by the Italian car design firm and coachbuilder Pininfarina. Throughout the production run the 124 Spider was available with a variety of engines, starting at 1438cc in 1966 and increasing all the way to the 2.0 liter in 1979, thus why the car was marketed as the Fiat 2000 from 1979 until 1981.
When Fiat retired the Spider 2000 in 1981 and exited the U.S. market shortly thereafter, the car continued to be sold. Now branded as the Pininfarina Spider Azzurra, sales continued until 1985.
