Cubster – 1949

The Cubster body was designed for Osborn Wheel Co.’s Model D go-kart chassis, bodies are advertised as lightweight and appear to be one piece. The hood ornament for this is from a 1948 Chevrolet, the taillights from a 1949-50 Chevrolet, the trunk hinges and generator are from a 1936 Chevrolet. The frame construction and drivetrain layout is consistent with all other vehicles produced by Osborn wheel for the following decade. No mentioned is made in any advertisements about what materials the Cubster body are made of. The only other know instance of Osborn wheel or Robel producing a car body in house is the 1958 DeSoto Firemite.

After the subsequent purchase of Osborn Wheel Co. in the 1950s by Robel Corp. of Berwick, PA, Osborn Wheel continued to manufacture go-kart chassis and the chassis for “kid cars” such as the Quarter Midget, and Offyette Racer which were sold under the Robel name and bodied by AMROC.
