Alamagny – 1947

Designed in 1947 by Pierre Alamagny, a former quality manager at Renault. This car is notable for having its wheels arranged in a diamond pattern; it is a rhomboid vehicle. The front and rear wheels are steerable, while the side wheels are the drive wheels. The aluminum bodywork, crafted by the coachbuilder Pourtout, consists of two perfectly symmetrical shells. The centrally mounted powertrain fetures a Simca 5 engine paired with a four-speed gearbox. The two rear seats are rear-facing. This vehicle is the only prototype designed by engineer Alamagny.

The prototype remained in Mr. Alamagny’s possession until his death in 1959; it was subsequently held by the Gordini workshops until 1976, when it narrowly escaped the scrapyard. Purchased by Mr. Galichet (father), it was placed in storage before finally being restored in 2016 by his son, Jean-Pierre, for display at Rétromobile Paris.
