One of One On Display Now
The world of imagination – the mind’s playground! As kids, we spend a lot of time using our imagination; creating new games, hosting tea parties with stuffed animals, and creating worlds beyond the one we live in, designing objects that likely could never be explained! As we grow, imagination often changes from dreaming of the fantastic to creating solutions to problems – creation out of necessity rather than for fun.
All of the vehicles in this exhibit come from the imagination and all are one-of-a-kind. Whether these ideas were attempts to start up new car companies, or to simply build a vehicle out of need, they each have their own unique story. Some of these stories come from countries where the economic climate of the time required savvy citizens to build their own means of transportation, others from individuals hoping to bring their ideas to the automobile industry, and yet others who saw the automobile as something completely different than the internal-combustion powered, four-wheeled vehicle it had come to be known as.
This exhibit explores a selection of the one-of-a-kind vehicles in Lane Motor Museum’s collection that speak to the resourcefulness of their designers and builders. These vehicles come from all around the world, showing that the inventive spirit is a common trait we all share as people, and how some have applied it to the world of transportation
