From 1949 to 1962, DKW produced a van with a trailing-arm rear suspension system which incorporated springs in the cross bar assembly. It had a very modern layout with a front engine and front-wheel drive, but the engine was weak. The F800 was offered for sale to the public in 1954 and was equipped with a prewar two cylinder, 700cc, 20 hp engine. This was definitely not enough when the van was fully loaded. By 1955, the van received a three cylinder unit with 900cc, producing 32 hp. Loading from the rear is done easily through the large door opening. The ceiling height is about five feet. The floor is about 14 inches from the ground which makes lifting heavy objects a little easier. It has a 3/4 ton hauling capacity.
