Prior to WWII, Ferdinand Porsche was selected by Hitler to design “the people’s car”–the Volkswagen.  During the war, Porsche fled to Austria.  It was during this time that he designed the 356.  In1950, he returned to Germany.  Porsche’s first post-war model was the 356 (named as the 356th project off his design desk).  The company grew and prospered, aided by an enviable record in sports car racing–Porsche’s first international success was in 1951 at le Mans.  Porsche’s most important new model was the 911.  The 911 and its variants remained in production for nearly 30 years with over 50 models introduced.  On the road or on the racetrack, the 911 is an exciting machine that has withstood the test of time and become an icon of style and engineering.  The 911 sc was produced between 1977 and 1983, and many consider it among the marque’s finest offerings.
