This tiny traditional-style sports car was conceived mainly with hill-climbing in mind. Hill-climbing is a popular motor sport in Great Britain and entails vehicles traveling up a steep hill against the clock. As such, the Liège is a very simple, very lightweight (895 pounds) car with high ground clearance and 16" wheels. The simple chassis uses front swing axles, a live rear axle and a reliant engine. A Liège can be purchased as a complete car or a kit. This car is kit number 43. After seeing a Liège in England, Lane Motor Museum purchased a kit. The company put us in touch with an independent builder–Malcolm Curnow. The builder purchased a reliant kitten to use as the donor car for the motor, transmission, brake system, steering wheel, and gauges. The car was assembled in Great Britain before it was shipped to Lane Motor Museum.
