The Caterham 7 Blackbird was launched in front of the world’s automotive press on July 8, 1999, at the F1 Circuit in Portugal, and the performance from this 1000cc sports car was amazing. Under the hood you will find a Honda Blackbird cbr 1000 motorcycle engine. Borrowing many styles from its predecessor (the Caterham r500), the Blackbird’s light engine and gearbox, attached to the super light chassis, achieves an impressive weight of 1000 pounds. Add to that 170 bhp at 10,750 rpm and a six speed sequential gear box, and you have a sensory overload of gear changes and “revs.” This “rocket” will accelerate from 0 to 63 in 3.9 seconds.
