The Tatra T-607 Monoposto (single-seater) race car was used to aid in the development of the next generation of V-8 engines for Tatra passenger cars. The T-607 was raced in both Formula One and Formula Two, depending on the displacement of the engine fitted. After five years of development, Tatra introduced its new passenger car, the Tatra T-603, in 1955. The T-603’s engine is the same all-aluminum V-8 as used in the T-607 race car, detuned for
street duty and reliability.
