The Jaguar XJ Series began production in 1968 as a large luxurious sedan. The original XJ was available with the famous 4.2 liter XKE engine. Production continued until 1992, with updating about every 10 years.
The XJ6 you see here is the Series 3, which was the last updated version. The Series 3 XJ was available with either a 6 or 12 cylinder engine, with the designation XJ6 or XJ12. All engines were fuel-injected. Jaguar sold a lot of the XJ models because it was a very comfortable and luxurious car. This car was originally purchased here in Nashville, TN at Thoroughbred Motors by Patricia Lattimore. Patricia kept the car for many years but eventually sold it to Mike Mowery. In 2010, Mike Massieu purchased the car, and used it as a daily driver. This car also attended and won many awards at the Local Nashville British Car Club shows. Mike Massieu generously donated the car to the museum in 2015.
