The first small Lancia conceived under FIAT ownership was the Delta, which appeared in 1978. In 1987, a new model, the Delta HF Integrale, was launched. It had a more aggressive look to highlight its sporting personality. It retained the 1995cc turbo engine with intercooler and overboost, twin counter-rotating balancer shafts, and integrated electronic ignition injection management system with knock sensors. The power output rose to 185bhp; the performance rose to unparalleled heights: 0 to 60mph in 6.4 seconds. The Delta HF Integrale is also a winner on the rally circuit with six prestigious world rally titles. These cars were exported to Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, and Switzerland. The “HF” symbol stands for “high fidelity.” It became the official logo of the company’s sports car in 1966 and was adopted again in the 1980s for the Delta Integrale.
