Powell Crosley, Jr. is famous for making millions by producing Crosley radios and Shelvador refrigerators. Mr. Crosley also had a passion for cars, and believed America was ready for a small economy car. The objective was to sell the small cars for $325.00, although by the time the cars were produced, the price had jumped to $365.00. Initially, the cars were sold in appliance and hardware stores, and shortly after production began in 1939, car dealerships were established. In 1939, this was the only model Crosley offered, although it could be ordered in a 2 or 4-seat version. The Crosley car was offered in a variety of models in latter years, but sales never really took off, and Crosley ceased car production in 1952.
