This race car started as a stock Citroën 2CV. As the 2CV was found to be affordable and easy to maintain, it was an ideal fit with the racing crowd. 24-hour endurance racing in 2CVs became popular and events were held at tracks in Belgium, Ireland, and England. As you may guess by the placement of the steering wheel, this car has been modified for racing in England. The motor is only slightly modified to deliver 40 horsepower rather than the stock 28 horsepower. The interior is stripped to decrease the weight which increases speed. As you can see, only a racing seat remains inside. A full roll cage has been added for safety requirements. The suspension has been modified to lower the car. In doing so, you lower the center of gravity and increase the cornering speed. The canvas roof has been replaced with aluminum–another safety feature.
